Family Parade
Family Parade
I have spent 1/2 of my life in kitchen's & restaurants. Maybe for some people it's in their blood. I have always believed that restaurant people were their own breed anyway. So when the cook book idea started forming itsself, I wasn't surprised, I guess I just never thought that it would ever come to fruition.
I spent all day in the kitchen, playing with a Pineapple Upside Down Cake recipe that for the life of me I cannot get right, and a Monte Cristo Sandwich recipe that would make you cry it was soo good! The Pacific Northwest Days are perfect for "recipe guinne pig days" The weather is grey & rainy and basically, miserable to go out in. I turn on the oven, get out the recipes and begin play time. The house slowly fills with a a dance of flavors , from my all time favorites. It's funny, not haha funny but odd, that the family always seems to know when I am cooking up a batch of "something" Daughter child & family & nephew & girly friend, as well as other step- daughter child & family all live in a 2 blocks radius, but I swear they can smell it in the air- they always seem to come a runnin' when a fresh batch of cake is hitting the table, or I just pulled the cinnamon rolls from the oven & icing is barely beginning to ooze down the plate... The doorbell rings, the kids call, our nephew & his girlfriend stop on by, taste a sample, give an opinion, a visit, a hug & back out into the world. It does get a little crazy, I didn't think at 36 I would have THIS life, but I think it's nice that way.
