Have you ever thought you really knew someone and then they did something morally irreprehensible & you couldn't look at them the same way again???

Iam really struggling with the fact that someone I love very much, who is near & dear to my heart would actually do this gross thing...

she cheated on her husband.

I for the life of me cannot get past it. I am angry at her decision to throw her whole life away, including her son's stability and the happiness of her family in general.  Noone wants to say it was horrible, because she is such a "nice person" I love her- but I don't think her such a nice person.

Family Parade

I have spent 1/2 of my life in kitchen's & restaurants.  Maybe for some people it's in their blood.  I have always believed that restaurant people were their own breed anyway.  So when the cook book idea started forming itsself, I wasn't surprised, I guess I just never thought that it would ever come to fruition.

I spent all day in the kitchen, playing with a Pineapple Upside Down Cake recipe that for the life of me I cannot get right, and a Monte Cristo Sandwich recipe that would make you cry it was soo good! The Pacific Northwest Days are perfect for "recipe guinne pig days" The weather is grey & rainy and basically, miserable to go out in. I turn on the oven, get out the recipes and begin play time.  The house slowly fills with a a dance of flavors , from my all time favorites.  It's funny, not haha funny but odd, that the family always seems to know when I am cooking up a batch of "something"  Daughter child & family & nephew & girly friend, as well as other step- daughter child & family all live in a 2 blocks radius, but I swear they can smell it in the air- they always seem to come a runnin' when a fresh batch of cake is hitting the table, or I just pulled the cinnamon rolls from the oven & icing is barely beginning to ooze down the plate... The doorbell rings, the kids call, our nephew & his girlfriend stop on by, taste a sample, give an opinion, a visit, a hug & back out into the world. It does get a little crazy, I didn't think at 36 I would have THIS life, but I think it's nice that way.

Mom how do you make...?????

Mom how do you make...?????

I inherited a 17 year old daughter when I married her dad.  She never really had a Mom around so in an instant I became a mother  to kid #2.  It had always just been me and the boy.  He ate everything I put in front of him and the only thing I ever heard out of him was if something had too many spices on it.  I always kind of puttered in the kitchen and had some morbid fascination with the Food and Beverage Industry my whole life.  I waited tables to put myself through college/law school- but when I got married 4 years ago, something in me was born or woke up~ Im not sure which,  All of a sudden I could not get enough of the kitchen/ cook books and the smells and combinations of the  ingredients.  I spent every waking minute trying out new recipes.  My poor family-such good sports! We had some good-some not so good.  I will never forget the night I made Raviolli with Vodka Sauce for "my hubby" from a jar because I was too tired to cook! Worst meal ever!  To this day he thinks I cooked it & it was just a really bad batch I dont want to admit to. Nearly poisoned BOTH of us!!  Anyway- off track- The daughter I inherited became a Mom pretty early on and CANNOT cook a lick.  She started pestering me for how do you make this and how do you make that. Due to joblessness beyond my control I now have free time. So, I decided this is the year- she gets her cook book-I will write down all my recipes put them in a book and give them to her.  My son will never have kids (he swears) and wants his momma to cook for him forever!  So I started writing the recipes down for her (what a pain in the ass right? not so much)and fine tuning recipes that Ive always had  playing with them until they are mine & just how I like them-I am spending my days playing in the kitchen, mixing, creating, tasting,~sometimes tossing down the disposal~ I took some pictues of the food and POW She has her "Mom's" recipes.  I started looking at all I was doing for her and decided to take it one step further and do something for me too- I decided to write the book that apparently has been living inside of me all this time. I think I may have gone and lost my mind...
